PROFILE

 

      The Department of Mathematics was established in 1985 from inception of the college.  It caters need of the students and shaped them to place in higher position both in State and Central Governments. This department is one of the pioneering departments of the College that teaching Mathematical skills to all the students in the college as they very useful in getting jobs and higher education seats in reputed Universities / Institutions.

                  This department comprising 2 faculty members with one Doctorate degree are actively involving in advanced types of teaching Mathematics and in carrying out student’s study projects. To keep in touch with the ever growing technology, the faculty members are regularly orientating themselves in learning modern teaching techniques and also by attending refresher courses (Online and Offline mode), Seminars, Conferences, Workshops, Faculty Development Programmes (FDP) etc., All the staff are involved in Academic and Administrative works throughout the year apart from  regular class work .

                   Students are highly motivated to handle Classroom seminars, high school teaching and to participate in group discussions /Quizzes. Apart from stressing on consistent and good academic performance, the department also encourages its students to participate in the curricular and extra-curricular (social) activities to bring out the latest talents

Highlights of the Department:

Faculty initiated activities like weakly seminars, Student research, group discussions, quiz competitions, PG Entrance Coaching, field visit and night classes in the social welfare hostel.

Best practices of mathematics department:

1. Celebrations of Ramanujan’s birth Anniversary (National Mathematics Day) every

     year on 22nd December.

 

2. Conducting Elocution and Essay writing competitions and giving away prizes to    the

    students who stand in 1st, 2nd and 3rd places on the occasion of Mathematics Day.

 

3. Department is giving Three Proficiency Prizes to the students of outgoing batch on

    22nd December every year.

 

4.  Paying visits to Orphanages and Old age homes.

 

5.  Encouraging the students to join in online certificate courses (Swayam MOOCS).

 

6.  Every year arranging plantation programme in the month of July along with

      students.

7. Arranging Awareness Programmes for Career Guidance for the benefit of the

    students.

8.  Arranging Invited Lectures with subject experts for the benefit of the students to

      get exposure in the subject.

 

9.  Arranging Literacy Programmes/Awareness Programmes for the women in the

     weaker sections colonies of KOTHAPETA Rural Areas under the Mathematics

     Club.

10. Conducting Rallis to create awareness on plantation of trees, aids, literacy among

      the public and students.

Competitions conducted


                                  Competitions Conducted on  21/12/2022.

In view of National Mathematics Day the following competitions were conducted to degree students.

 

            1) Under the supervision of faculty members,

                Final Year students conducted a quiz competition to the first-year

                students on 21-12-2022. 

           2) Power point presentation competition was conducted to the students

              on 21-12-2021 on "Applications of Mathematics". Certificates and

              Cash prizes were given to the winners on 22-12-2023.
